Millennials – a fresh new perspective
Millennials, those born from 1980 to approximately 1995, are the first truly digital natives. They have a unique view of the world and presence which extends to the workplace. Unknowingly, millennials can upset the existing unwritten workplace rules. While they may feel they are furthering their careers, that might not be the case.
Like every cohort group (Baby Boomers, Generation X, etc.), Millennials have a lot to contribute, yet a lot to learn to fit into the existing workplace and other generations. All workers, regardless of their cohort group, need to understand their effects on one another. This is not an easy thing to do.
This article provides an explanation of the perspective of various cohorts – and how millennials can achieve success in this brave new work world they are entering.
When interviewing, millennials might want to practice with others who can catch these “attitude” differences and provide input on the perspectives of how to work harmoniously alongside all age groups. This is true for other groups interviewing to work for millennials.
